Sunday Morning Schedule
This Sunday, November 24, we will continue with our regular Sunday morning schedule with Kairos worship at 9:15, the education hour at 10:15, and Sanctuary worship at 11:15. It is Christ the King Sunday, and Richard Floyd will preach. It is also Pledge Dedication Sunday. We will have cards available for those who have already pledged to bring forward.
Wednesday Night at FPC
We will have dinner at 5:30pm this Wednesday, November 20. Our menu includes quesadillas with pinto beans, seasonal green salad, and rice with peas and corn. Sign up by 5pm Tuesday to join us for dinner. We’ll have regular programming this week with our Pastor’s Midweek Refresh and Wednesdays With Friends at 6:15pm.
FPC Book Club Read
We are now reading The Women by Kristin Hannah. We will discuss this book on Monday, December 9 at 7pm in the parlor. Everyone is welcome! Our club plans to meet on the second Monday of the month every other month.
Blessing Box
Thanks so much for supporting our Blessing Box! We encourage you to fill our box with individually packaged non-perishable foods, toiletries, and clothing. If you prefer, you are welcome to drop off donations at the church office.
Knitwits & Happy Hookers
FPC History Booklet
FPC has a history booklet that highlights the last 50 years thanks to Amelia Stafford. You can view the booklet on our website under the About tab. If you would like to receive a digital copy, email Beth Taylor or Kim Brookman. Printed copies are available at the church office.
Next Congregational Retreat
We are excited to be able to have our congregational retreat in Montreat this February 14-16. We will enjoy fellowship, worship, and some group time along with the opportunity to volunteer with the ongoing needs in western North Carolina. Our sign up is now live on the Sign-Up page! Let’s help these communities in their recovery.
Angel Tree
The FPC online and in-person angel trees are now available through December 1. You will be able to select tags on either tree to make Christmas special for children in our area supported by several organizations including Catawba County Social Services and Oakwood Elementary.
Communion Servers
All ordained elders, whether currently serving on the session or not, are able to serve communion. We have added a sign-up for serving communion on our website.
Online Pledging Update
If you made an online pledge prior to November 1, we ask that you confirm that we received the pledge with sue@hickoryfpc.org. We want to make sure all pledges are recorded as we introduce new technology.
Stewardship Season
We have packets and pledge cards available in both worship spaces and are happy to mail one to you if you have not eceived yours. Dedication Sunday will be November 24. We will have cards for those who have already made their pledges to bring forward during the service.
Realm Update
We invite you to sign up for Realm, our new church database that will allow you to have access to our online directory. Please know Realm is still new to us, and the online directory is now live. Please contact Beth Taylor (beth@hickoryfpc.org) if you need help signing up or have questions.
Adopt A Family For Christmas
The Family Care Center invites community members to help the families experiencing homelessness in our community ensure there are gifts around the tree on Christmas morning. Please email rachelheck@familycarecenter.org to sign up or with questions.
Worship Art
Sanctuary Guild
Members of our sanctuary guild give our traditional worship space the TLC it needs to be beautiful each week. We would love to have a few more volunteers to add to our schedule. Please email Shirley Thomason at sapthomason@gmail.com if you are interested.
YMCA Yoga at FPC
The Hickory YMCA is undergoing major construction and will be holding yoga classes in our high school room beginning this week. They have graciously offered free classes to our members age 13 and above while they are using our space. Click here for more information and a schedule.

Flowers make our two worship spaces even more beautiful, and you can provide them in honor or memory of a loved one. Look at the sign up and choose a date that is special to you.
