ANNOUNCEMENTS

Youth Service

Our high school youth service has been rescheduled for this Sunday, April 28. The service will be at 10am in the fellowship hall. We will celebrate communion during this service and this year’s Quest class will be confirmed. We will not have our education hour on the 28th.

This Wednesday at FPC

We will have our regular Wednesday night schedule this Wednesday, April 24 and continue through Wednesday, May 15. This week’s breakfast for supper menu includes scrambled egg casserole, roast potatoes, seasonal fruit, bacon and sausage, and assorted pastries. Please sign up by 5pm on Tuesday. We’ll have our Pastor’s Midweek Refresh and Faith, Friends, & Fellowship for our K-5th grades at 6:15pm.

Wednesday Volunteer Need

Thanks to everyone who has signed up to volunteer on Wednesday nights. We still need more clean-up help after dinner. Parents of K-5th grade kids – this is a great opportunity for adult fellowship while your kids are at Faith, Friends, & Fellowship!

Knitwits & Happy Hookers

This group meets on Tuesdays at 12:30pm in the parlor to knit, crochet, pray, and have fellowship. They welcome everyone, whether experienced or new at these crafts, to join them as they provide prayer shawls and other items for our congregation, friends, and community.

FPC Book Club Read

We are currently reading  James by Percival Everett. Please join us for a discussion this Thursday, April 25 at 7pm. The book that follows will be Trust by Hernan Diaz. We will discuss this book on Monday, June 3 at 7pm in the parlor. Everyone is welcome!

FPC History Booklet

FPC has a history booklet that highlights the last 50 years thanks to Amelia Stafford. You can view the booklet on our website under the About tab. If you would like to receive a digital copy, email Beth Taylor or Kim Brookman. Printed copies are available at the church office.

Blessing Box

Our middle school youth have constructed a Blessing Box (with the help of Adam Oakley) beside the parking lot on 3rd Avenue. Help us keep this box filled with items to help those in need. Gently used clothing and non-perishable food items are recommended.

Next Congregational Retreat

Save the date for the weekend of February 14-16, 2025 in Montreat for our next congregational retreat. All ages are encouraged to attend. More details coming soon.

Communion Servers

All ordained elders, whether currently serving on the session or not, are able to serve communion. We have added a sign-up for serving communion on our website.

Worship Art

We would love to see any artwork that our youth or children create during worship. Please send it to Beth. We may share some of these wonderful creations on our social media accounts.

New Bus!

FPC has a new (to us) bus thanks to your generosity! With your gifts and the future sale of the old bus, we still have a gap to be filled. If you would like to donate, please specify “bus replacement” on any Venmo, online, or check donations.

Sanctuary Guild

Members of our sanctuary guild give our traditional worship space the TLC it needs to be beautiful each week. We would love to have a few more volunteers to add to our schedule. Please email Shirley Thomason at sapthomason@gmail.com if you are interested.

Vacation Bible School

Save the date! This year’s VBS, Scuba – diving into friendship with God, will be June 17-20 from 9-12. Registration and volunteer sign-ups are on our sign-ups page.

Scam Warning

Your periodic reminder that scammers often try to impersonate pastors. You should always double check the email address if you receive any suspicious solicitation from Richard, Heather, or any other FPC employee. Don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have any questions.

Worship Flowers

Flowers make our two worship spaces even more beautiful, and you can provide them in honor or memory of a loved one. Look at the sign up  and choose a date that is special to you.

Blue Ridge Consort at FPC

This choral ensemble from Western North Carolina will perform “O’Appalachia” in our sanctuary at 7pm on Saturday, May 4. This group includes Emily Floyd, and all are invited to come enjoy the talent and familiar music.
